Billy Bush to Trump: 'That is your voice'

Former "Today" show co-host Billy Bush said Monday that President Donald Trump’s reported private denials that it was his voice on the infamous "Access Hollywood" tape upset him so much that he felt the need to say publicly once and for all, yes Mr. President, you really did say it.

“You can’t say that. That is your voice,” Bush told Stephen Colbert on his late night talk show, according to an early clip from the interview. “I was there, you [Trump] were there — that is your voice on the tape.”

The New York Times reported last week that the president has told people privately that it’s not really his voice on the 2005 tape that nearly cost Trump election. Last fall, after the Washington Post published the tape, Trump apologized for his comments amid a mass exodus of senior Republican officials and calls for him to drop out of the race. NBC fired Bush for his comments.

On the tape, Trump told Bush that as a star, the president was on NBC’s "The Apprentice" at the time, he could do anything.

"Whatever you want," Bush said.

"Grab em’ by the pussy," Trump replied. "You can do anything."

Trump also said: "I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her. You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just a kiss. I don’t even wait."

Bush, who wrote a scathing op-ed in the Times on Sunday, said one of his motivations for coming forward was that Trump’s comments seem to reappear in accusations about alleged sexual assault. Bush pointed to one woman, Kristin Anderson, who accused Trump of reaching under her dress and groping her in the 1990s and multiple other women who accuse Trump of forcibly kissing them.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said recently that Trump continues to deny Anderson’s accusation along with the accounts of the more than 13 women who have publicly accused Trump of sexual assault and misconduct.

“As I read these,” Bush said of reading about president’s accusers, “I said, 20 women don’t get together and say ‘you know what would be really fun? Let’s take down a power guy together."
